How do I submit a VAT return to HMRC?

All businesses are now required to submit VAT returns electronically since the introduction of Making Tax Digital (MTD).

Since the introduction of Making Tax Digital, you are now required to keep VAT records electronically & submit your VAT returns using compatible software.

While you can do this yourself, you might prefer to hire an experienced bookkeeping service to submit the returns for you as it can be tricky to setup & get working properly.

Examples of suitable software include Quickbooks, Xero & Sage (althought there are many options in existence in the marketplace).
